Making myself choose tasks from my full list forces me to focus my attention on the most important tasks and work effectively. In order for planners to be effective, you need to use them regularly. Always look at your planner first thing in the morning to have a clear and up-to-date image of what your day looks like.
I hope some of these tips will be able to help. This is normally what my calendar looks like—appointments and events. I usually don’t put my to-do’s here because they don’t always have a specific time, or aren’t always time-sensitive. THIS MAY SOUND LIKE A LOT.A lot of time, a lot of energy, a lot of organization. But I’ve tried keeping track of my mess of a life in just one place.
Reading this, I now understand why I have two different planners. Seeing and reading this made me feel it’s okay to write things down in multiple places. It was my brains way of telling me what it likes to get what needs to get done. What I do is write sticky notes for everything I have to do that week (the “This Week” section), and everything I have to do that month (the “This Month” section).
I may actually have adult ADHD, who knows but I sure find it helpful to live my life according to the same principles that are recommended to adults with ADHD.
