Now look, I’m not a max cushion or soft shoe kind of guy. I want something more responsive and snappy, even on longer runs. To me, a soft shoe feels like I’m sinking down and working against it.

If that’s what you are looking for I would recommend the Novablast 3 or the Superblast. The Nimbus excels over both of those shoes in the max cushion, comfort, plush category, but not as a do-it-all shoe. That’s fine, of course; there’s no reason to have three shoes that do the same thing. The Nimbus 25 is a tad bit chunky and weighs nearly 11 oz. While this would normally feel heavy, I was surprised that it weighed this much when I finally got it on the scale. The weight is distributed equally across the shoe so it doesn’t feel bottom heavy.

The shoe is designed for average to high arch, and I felt that they provided the best arch support than I have had in a stock insole. If you are looking for a soft, cloud-like running shoe, you will be disappointed with this as it pushes back to propel you forward. If my Physics is still good, when energy is transferred into the shoe, it will either need to absorb or deflect the energy to another form. The transition from heel strike to toe was very controlled and stable.

On the flip side, I was also concerned due to the heel reminding me of the blisters that the Levitate 3 has caused. Below shows the distribution of scores for all running shoes. Combining our best energy return with a sleek new look, the Levitate delivers a super springy ride and a perfected fit thanks to the sock-like upper. As Meg mentioned, the Nimbus 25 isn’t the shoe for every run if you like to have a shoe that can do it all (i.e. race, tempo, daily, recovery, etc.).

My W7.5 came in just over 8 oz (which isn’t terrible), but honestly feels much lighter than that. My guess is the knit upper adds a little extra weight to the overall shoe, leaving the midsole/outsole feeling extra light underfoot. We updated the Fit Knit Upper to provide a close-to-foot fit that’s lighter, softer, and more breathable than before. An updated arrow-point pattern on the outsole lets your foot move from heel to toe quickly, enhancing the shoe’s springy feel. Now 20% lighter, our DNA AMP midsole technology lets your foot spring off the ground with each step for speedy, efficient energy return.

I’ve basically run every distance, from being a half-mile specialist back in college to completing 28 marathons and multiple 100-mile races. I feel like the outsole might cause people to love or hate this shoe.

I also appreciate the wider and stable platform on this go around. It’s probably necessary to stabilize the 41 mm of foam, but it nonetheless provides a nice landing zone. So despite the softness of the shoe, it’s surprisingly stable.

My initial thought on the fit was I’ve found my new favorite shoe. It fits true-to-size, with a medium to narrow toe box and ample arch support. My foot is as average as average gets; average size, arch, width, and runner’s toes. Adrenaline GTS.. So far used 3 pairs… And all are awesome on road and my best running shoes forever.
