The oldest oyster shell middens on the North Atlantic Coast uncovered by archeologists on Croton Point confirm that the peninsula was inhabited by Native Americans as early as 7,000 years ago. Croton Point Park is a 508-acre park situated on a peninsula on the east shore of the Hudson River. This park offers year-round events and activities and has facilities for camping, hiking and swimming. Parking is easy and free either on-street or in the adjacent Eaton St. Parking Garage. Town Point Park’s lush river view landscapes are a large part of Norfolk’s recently renovated downtown park.
It is used for picnicking, fishing, swimming, water sports, and surfing. Lovers Point’s amenities include a large lawn area, a beach volleyball court, a children’s swimming pool, sandy beaches, umass amherst fafsa deadline rocky outcrops, a concrete pier structure, a restaurant, and a snack bar. It is popular for weddings, and is home of the annual Feast of Lanterns pageant and fireworks celebration.
